| IMPORTANT REMINDER ABOUT QUEST SUBMISSIONS posted by: Old-Skool | November.10.2011 | zeldaclassic.com's database is pretty much the same one that's been here since day one, for better or for worse. It is designed to grab from whatever urls you provide and give that to users. Thus, if you link to a rapidshare or mediafire-type site, which hosts your quest file, IT WILL NOT WORK. Same goes for your screenshots.
I try to be lenient with people who don't bother making sure, but we cannot "hold" your submission until you get one url right. So, from now on, any quest submission which does not link to a valid quest url (CHECK YOUR QUEST LINKS! COPY THE ADDRESS INTO YOUR ADDRESS BAR AND MAKE SURE YOU GET A DOWNLOAD PROMPT, NOT A HOSTING PAGE.) will be deleted on sight.
On another note, it seems that recently we have had people who do not understand how Zelda Classic works. We do not accept rom hacks of Zelda games. That's not what we do here. If you are that confused, read "What's Zelda Classic?" before submitting anything. Protip: if your screenshots have an "IGN" or "Mobygames" watermark in the corner, your quest will probably be deleted.

| Read this if you use Windows 7 or Vista! posted by: Old-Skool | June.20.2011 | Hey guys, we've been getting a lot of new folks trying to use Zelda Classic v2.10 on operating systems like Windows 7 and Windows Vista. Zelda Classic 2.10 is six years old, and incompatible with Vista and (especially) 7.
Don't worry though: What you need is the 2.10 update, available here.
Alternatively, v2.5 is nearing completion. If you would like to play the beta version of it, with new features like enemy and item editors, scripting, and the Rocs feather, you can download the latest release here. However, be aware that these *are* betas, with undetected bugs and issues, both known and unknown. USE THEM AT YOUR OWN RISK.
Other than that, if you use a beta, make sure that the version you download is for Windows (Mac users can download a Mac version, but I'm assuming they aren't reading this.), and that it is indeed the latest available version (at the top of the page.)
Thanks guys, and have fun!

| Back online posted by: Pineconn | May.07.2011 | It appears that this website is no longer running suspicious scripts and that you can access the quests. Unfortunately, it looks like the FAQs and Downloads pages were wiped, as well as the tilesets for quests were reset.
Let us know if you find any additional problems on the forums or as a comment to this news post.
EDIT 5/15: It appears that the Downloads page is working again. However, I found that the comments for each quest have also been deleted.

| A Link to Power posted by: Pineconn | January.12.2011 | About a month ago, A Link to Power by tox_von was uploaded to the database. A news entry was never made. Better late then never!
Also, we're not entirely sure why one of the quests was deleted. I believe the link was invalid, so maybe one of the staff did the job. We apologize for this.

| Rise of Ganon; quest update posted by: Pineconn | August.26.2010 | Kenster has submitted Rise of Ganon, a quest that has been on PureZC since earlier this year. If you haven't played it yet, well, what are you waiting for? Make sure that you use version 2.10.
[Also, I've updated my own quest, End of Time DX. Thanks, Cyclone, for all of your input and help! And this is not a shameless plug... I will be announcing EVERY quest upload and update.]

| And we're back! ...sorta posted by: Pineconn | April.12.2010 | If you've been trying to use www.zeldaclassic.com to access our page for the past few months, you will have noticed that you couldn't connect. Alternate domains, however, were fully functional (such as www.armageddongames.net/zeldaclassic). Well, thanks to the work of the admins, the site is fully accessible again. ZC 2.5 is still under development, and help is always needed. Feel free to come into the forums and test it out for us.
Secondly, I normally do not make announcements about quests. However, we've received a quest update for a rather old quest, Lands of Serenity by Chris Miller. Besides bug fixes, it's been ported to version 2.10 for everyone to enjoy.

| A new year, a new expo! posted by: Pineconn | January.01.2010 | Happy new year, ZC community! We are kicking the new year off with the AGN Winter Expo! Please click here to enter; make sure to read the rules and procedural details. The AGN Expo is a biannual event in which all quest authors may create threads (in the appropriate sub-forums, of course) about their upcoming quests, scripts, and graphics/music. This is open to everyone, so why don't you come on in and submit something?
Also, if you haven't clicked in for awhile, the forums have been hacked and we lost all posts from around May to November of 2009. Our thanks to the AGN administrators and staff for getting everything else working correctly.
Finally, ZC 2.5 is still in the works. Check out this site for development updates.

| A big thank you to Questmakers everywhere posted by: Old-Skool | September.18.2009 | Since the last news post, The number of faulty submissions has significantly dropped. I'd like to thank the questmakers who took the time to read the last news post regarding submissions. As a reminder, your quest url CANNOT link to a page on a file hosting site: It must link directly to the file. Also, while it won't reject the quest necessarily, check your image files.
It's a sort of weird irony that the internet is composed mostly of words, and yet people never take the time to read them. But it looks like a few people did, and those people deserve some round of applause, just for bothering to read things first. Thanks guys!

| **READ BEFORE SUBMITTING A QUEST** posted by: Old-Skool | August.13.2009 | It seems several people still don't know how to properly submit a quest or bother to read the forums and find out.
We had a Super Mario Bros. "Demo" that was rejected (three times in one sitting, what does that say)because two links led to 404's, and the third led to a rapidshare site. IF THE URL TO YOUR QUEST LINK DOES NOT LINK DIRECTLY TO THE ZIP OR QUEST FILE, YOUR QUEST WILL NOT BE APPROVED. IT WILL BE REJECTED. REJECTED. NOT GOING IN. I suggest you change filehosts. WE DO NOT HOST YOUR QUEST FILES!!
Also, we've had a discussion lately on submitting screenshots that aren't actually in the quest. This is fine if you want to post some sort of box art to your quest, make it look like a video game. STEALING AN IMAGE OFF THE NET OF THE SUPER MARIO BROS TITLE SCREEN IS NOT ACCEPTABLE.

| Official Zelda Classic 4th Quest Contest posted by: jman2050 | March.11.2009 | The Zelda Classic Development team is hosting a quest-making contest, the winner of which will have his quest packaged with the release version of Zelda Classic 2.5! The theme is similar to the Official 3rd quest contest done many years ago, where the completed quest is similar in purpose and design to the 2nd quest of the original NES game The Legend of Zelda.
Please visit the official thread for rules and more information
Happy quest-building!

Anyone who is not a member will have to register (for free).
Note: Yes, even if you have posted a thread before in a previous AGN Expo or PureZC Expo, feel free to make a duplicate thread that would mark any progress and improvements since then. We'd all love to see it.
I should also mention that ZC 2.5 is making considerable progress. Check out the new builds at www.shardstorm.com. I always make sure to keep the development history up-to-date.

| Quest submissions posted by: erm2003 | March.27.2008 | Just a quick reminder for everyone. We do not accept demos for submissions in the quest database. You are free to post a link to a demo in the ZC Quest Discussion forum if you would like. Submissions that do not contain completed quests will be deleted.
Edit by Pineconn: Also, submissions must be custom quests. A custom quest is defined as "a completed and working quest that you put the majority of work into creating." While we do accept 1st Quest remakes, they must be truly phenomenal, not cheap edits.
Finally, make sure that your quest number (in the header) is set to 0. Any quests with quest numbers that are not set to 0 will be delayed in processing or deleted.

| Quest Database now accepting submissions again posted by: rocksfan13 | September.26.2007 | The quest database is now open for all submissions for Zelda Classic version 2.5 beta and below.
So, bring them on in!
If there are any issues with submitting, please report them to a Quest DB staff member immediately so we may locate the issue.
Edited by Anarchy_Balsac - Also, if I am on the forum when you submit your quest, you may PM me and I will add it. I know many of you are anxious to see your quests go through by now.
Edited again by Anarchy_Balsac - For those of you wondering, yes, we are in fact accepting quests from beta builds. However, we ask that if you submit quests from these builds, you announce in bold lettering not only that you are using a beta, but which specific one it was built in. We also request that you link to this build in your description.

| QDB is nearing completion! posted by: Pineconn | September.25.2007 | Hello all!
The official Zelda Classic Quest Database is almost ready to accept quests for ZC v2.10 and below! However, the staff asks that you do not submit your quests quite yet, as a few QDB bugs are being fixed by DarkDragon. We promise that the QDB will accept quests within the next week or so, so expect an announcement to be made when this happens.
In other news, several AGN members have volunteered and been given the authority to run the QDB, including Anarchy_Balsac, bigjoe, erm2003, franpa, Gleeok, Old-skool, rocksfan13, and myself. Along with moderators and administrators, a ton of people are updating the site, so you can expect a lot more information to be added to it very soon.
Edited by Anarchy_Balsac - Also, to those of you reporting bugs, check the FAQ before reporting problems with 1st and 2nd quests. I updated it to cover most of the kinds of things that have been reported about those in the bug forums.
